When Your Photographer Doesn't Show

Over the summer I had the pleasure of photographing a special elopement. This bride reached out to me to take photo booth style portraits of her guests. The elopement took place on the grounds of her mother’s very established gardens overlooking the ocean. There is no way to book this venue, and I will be the only photographer to capture this beauty. Read on to find out!

On the day of the ceremony, I received a message that her hired photographer had not shown. She let me know he was on the way, but she had missed all her formal pictures and the ceremony on the beach. Truly, I have seen everything, but this is a first for me.

When I arrived on the property, I found this gorgeous arbor that was well lit by the sun. It was tucked away just a tiny bit between the party and the games that were set up for guests. The bride had found a bench online, located on the other side of the state that she sent her brother to get. It was gorgeous and complemented the scene so perfectly. While I waited for guests to come, I watched the other hired, late, photographer snap pictures of everyone mildy jealous that he was getting so much good stuff. Well, I didn’t need to be bothered by him. He never gave the couple their images. Months later she hired me to come back and photograph her family in all their clothes so she could have something. Its these moments that keep me doing what I do. Photography s such a gift to people and being able to gift that is truly special.
