Whidbey Island Elopement Shoe Advice

Shoes. We have to talk about shoes and how important they are on your wedding day. People, the shoes you wear on your wedding day are very, very important not matter how big or small your day is. They must be epic or its ruined. I hear from so many brides that shoes don’t matter, they won’t be seen. We see your shoes, we see everything that day so don’t leave the project incomplete. 

This shot comes from an elopement at Captain Whidbeys Inn. After dating a few years this couple quietly tied the knot telling no one except the dog watcher and the adult kids. When the groom saw the dress initially, he panicked thinking he didn’t have a shirt to compliment how gorgeous she was going to be. Having no time to shop he did pick an excellent choice out of his closet. After the ceremony just before entering the bar I stopped them to photograph her shoes, a traditional shot I have done for millennia. The groom was stunned we would photograph the shoes and called it a “chick thing”. It’s quite an honor to have the best shoe etiquette bestowed to the female side, but we are not alone in this crusade.  There are simply 2 kinds of people in this world, those that know shoes and those that have yet to learn. 

In conclusion, your shoes matter. They will be noticed, they will be visible and they will be documented. Make sure whatever choice you make that you can sleep at night.
